Statesboro, GA to PointSouth, SC

71 MILES  13.3 mph  5:30 min BT  8:00 to 3:30  68-90 degrees very little wind. Warm to start-good rds-1st picture-friendly cows. Little traffic-can ride in car lane-trees line rd-shade-music-love riding a bike. Cross line into SC-rd terrible until next county-now like SC. 1st stop-ch milk & roll. Found most interesting person ever-XIAM! Biking on frontage rd next to 95-starts to sprinkle-stop under overpass-see her sitting down next to gigantic backpack (as tall as bike) & bike loaded down. She comes over-deck of cards in her hands. Ask questions-where you from? Everywhere. Where you going? Not sure. How many miles in a day? Sometimes more, sometimes less. Someone had stolen identity, dna, fingerprints-worked for goverment in time of Nixon. Going from county to county asking for help. Take her picture map rapping w/OR. Can’t believe I didn’t take bike. Had plastic buckets for paniers-huge, heavy chain-embarrassed to go over & stare. Backpack & bike must weigh over 200 lbs-we carry 20 lbs. She is in her 60’s & is skinny! UNBELIEVABLE HOW SHE CAN EVEN GET STARTED. Leave, go on overpass-now on otherside of 95. Stop at BWestern $99-go to Knight’s Inn-$48-ok. Go to visitor’s center-put bikes under gazebo-raining. Felisha is very friendly-says you must lose a lot of weight-NO-never lose weight. Gives me free cookies. Go to DENNEY’S for our most expensive bike dinner ever. OR orders & eats: veggie burger, potatoes, broccoli-still hungry-huge waffle, hash browns, smoothie. I order huge skillet dish, 4 glasses of sweet tea & delicious banana split. Lakesha is our very enthusiastic waitress of 1 week. Bill is $48-same as motel. See we get 15% discount because of AARP-leave $10 tip. Get back to motel just in time-thunder, lightning & rain storm. I’m so full-not sure I can get on bike tomorrow.
