DAY 2 10/3 (Tues) STROUD to EDMOND, OK 48 M

STROUD TO EDMOND, OK  48 M, 10.5 mph,  4 hrs 30 min biking time, 7 am to 1:30.  Estoy lista (I’m ready) Need to practice my Sp. Up at 5:30-out at 7-see Jean. Don’t bike together-end up at McD in CHANDLER. Walk in & think of Mary Ruth’s dad-who at 96 was going 6 days a week to McD to have coffee w/friemds. A group of women were behind us & 6 to 8 men were across from us-all laughing & kidding around. This has made my day. 74, cloudy, humid,  tail/cross wimds, no shoulder much of time, drivers give us plenty of room-especially 18 wheelers. Armand stops for cow pictures-TX longhorns-babies come to visit-chew on my handle bars. Meet Richatd-in truck- has done a lot of biking. Lives in Edmond-offers help if we need it. Lots of traffic coming into town. Americas Best Value $62-clean, large, pillows. Jean calls about going farther-very easy day for her. We’re finished. Take bath, rest while Armamd does wash. Go to same Greek rest-but at different times. Suppose to rain all day tomorrow.

Day 1 (10/2-Mon) TULSA to STROUD, OK 60.5 miles

TULSA to STROUD, OK  60.5 Miles, 9.4 mph, 8 to 5 (6 hrs 25 min biking time)  HARD NIGHT-HARDER DAY  Need 2 pillows-had 1. Armand got tired of my legs jerking-shared 1/2 of his pillow-alarm went off at 12 am.  Met Jean at Hertz-on rd at 8. Nice trail-ends-contruction. Meet Stacy (our 1st bike angel) says trail construction going on 2 1/2 yrs-leads us to bridge & RT 66.  He takes our picture as Jean bikes away. See her 3 more times on rt. Neither Jean or Whitmey want to bike w/me. After today, lucky Armand will.  Good rds-wide shoulders -15 mph head/cross winds for most of ride. Hot-84-sunny-very little cloud cover. 30 m-have leg cramps-have to get off bike. Meet couple from Russia-going from NY to LA. 40 m see McD up a little hill-Armand waiting-I’m 50 ft away-leg cramps-lay down in grass. He walks back, takes bike as I hobble. Jean is there &  leaving. Notices my panier is ripped-lucky all my clothes didn’t fall out-gives me duck tape-she’s prepared for anything. Have sweet tea & oatmeal-go to dollar store for more duck tape. Not a difficult ride except for cramps & wind & not in biking shape. Get to Sooner Motel ($57) @ 5:00-get cleaned up-eat at Mexican rest w/Jean. Fantastic meal-better than anything in Austin. Armand & Jean map rap-I nod my head. Armand was really nice to me today. Have 2 pilows tonight.
