Up at 5am-not much traffic-Austin to Phoenix. Wilson & Sparky met Ozzie the airport dog-arrived in Spokane, WA @ 12:30-Martha there to pick us up. Ate lunch, stopped in Wilber for 1st pictures-lots to do in little town. Drove to GRAND COULEE where Jim was waiting in RV. This is 1st RV ADVENTURE. Went to Safeway-buy food-went to Mex Rest for dinner. Go to COULEE DAM-watch films-7 to 8,000 men worked on dam during Great Depression. More concrete used to build dam than any structure in the world. Too tired to watch lazer show at 10:00-climb ladder into bed.

Last bkft w/Jean & Cindy-beautiful day-train ride to Zurich. Icelander to Iceland-change planes to Boston-NO food on either flight-eat bkft sandwiches-watch 3 movies. Boston at 7:30 pm-have massive hdache & nausea from caffeine withdrawal-was drinking 3 cokes a day-no ice. Have to sit down before going through customs-can’t find passport😢😢 Jean & Cindy through customs-Armand goes back to plane-thankgoodness found it. Feel rotten-he wants to get me wheelchair-no- finally make it. Planning to stay in airport until morning-need bed-walk 20 min to Hotel Hilton at airport. Lay on bench-Armand comes back w/key-don’t tell me cost. Not excited about rm in morning light! View of parking garage & roof-cracks in tile fl & tub-paint peeling from door, No internet-No bkft-How much?? $370-see sign-not happy we’ll make it right. Call-tell them just spent 14 days in Europe-this is the worst hotel yet. REDUCE rate in 1/2-no bkft-but feel better. Eat burrito in airport-C-55 boarding #-don’t care-going home. Becky picks us up at airport-so nice to be home.

Churchbells at 6-lost count after 30-every church tries to outdo others-close window.7:30 bkft Cindy & Jean already there. Fantastic display for LAST BKFT. Rain doesn’t stop & very COLD. 2 are biking-2 taking train-pack luggage-needs to be down by 9. Stop by Jean’s room-Cindy out walking in rain. Go out in hall-can’t remember rm #-maid tries to help-open several-LOST in hallway-yell Armand-maid thinks I’m crazy. Finally Armand finds me-Jean & Cindy go all over Europe by themselves-I get lost in hallway😢😢 At train station buy 4 tickets-2 for us 2 for bikes $70. Lady w/dog & baby go by-dog poops 4 times-pt to poop-lady asks me to watch baby & dog. Wave at baby wrapped in plastic (rain)-baby grabs my finger. Take elevator to train track-meet Richard wearing Luckenbach, Tx hat & wife Susan from TN. See lady fall trying to get on train. 30 min ride to Konstanz-still raining-see bikers on path-glad we’re on train. Arrive 12:30-Halm Hotel-park bikes-walk to museum. Jean in lobby at 3:30-rain most of way. Love our room again-view of train st., sail boats, lake, church. Later take hr bus ride around city-only see 1 person pay. No checked tickets on train either. Guy at desk-only asked for ticket once in 6 yrs.

Bkft-made sandwich again. In mins out of town on trails-see very few people. Forest-now on gravel-creek beside us- temp cool. Cows on both sides-bells serranade us. Stop to feed cute cows on side of path-this causes us to miss train by 2 min-leader says enough pictures of cows. Have to wait hr for next train up mt. Beautiful views of countryside & towns below on train-20 min ride. Get off train-black clouds-starts to rain-want to take train to our town. Leader says only 21K-bikes away-I follow. Now raining-very steep hills-have to walk-leader NEVER walks-has to wait for me. Stop at building-asks lady if we can stay-sure but it’s not bad now-going to get worse. Gives us 4 cookies-bike away. Countryside is green, dotted w/cows, horses, sheep & villages. Scary going downhill on wet roads-use brakes- biking on narrow rd. Weather clears-stop at cheese factory. Starts to rain as we get to HOTEL EINSTEIN in St. GALLEN-unbelievable-nicest one yet. Have huge room & tub. Eat sandwich & coke-bath-nap. Leader goes out-finds Subwat-$20 for veggie burger. Burgers are $29 at hotel-fries extra. Saw McD too-but don’t want to pay .20 for packet of ketchup like we did going into Zurich. After nap-stopped by Jean’s room-already been to library & church. Church was gorgeous-bells ring every 15 min-takes up entire block-another huge church next door. Starts to rain-back to hotel- Cindy just got in-go see fitness room & pool. In room- eat another sandwich & coke. Tomorrow last day of biking. Armand is sound asleep.
